Forgive the render, the lights are too bright to see everything, not to mention the subject had to be zoomed out quite a bit so small detail is pretty much invisible. Sucks too because I spent a couple of nights texturing it. 2 bump maps failed to render up as well. AAAAAAAAAAAAA!!! Why does it always happen at rendertime!!

Series: Gundam 0083: Stardust Memories
The Dendrobium Orchis is a mobile weapons platform to the Gundam GP03 Stamen as the METEOR is to the Freedom. The original design, as with the Stamen is by Hajime Katoki, the same guy who did the concept illustrations for the Sentinal Gundam photo magazine story. As cool as this design is, it's shame that it only appears in the last few episodes of Stardust Memories. I've taken a few liberties with the detail to offset the rather boring and nonstellar look of the tiny plastic model that this is based off of.

Trying to render up a schema view to illustrate how all the weapons/weapons pods fit.

Software: Lightwave 8.3 (modelling/ rendering), Photoshop.

References: a wee 1/550 plastic model/ images from various magazines

The bumps may have failed due to the lighting scheme. I know for Maya if you use an ambient light then it will not render out. To which point if you are using some kind of Global Illumination or another kind of general lighting that could be the reason for the glitch.

Other than that it is a beautiful model!

You are correct on the global illumination, though I have yet to investigate further. Good points though and I'll check them out.
