I hadn't quite noticed that the ol page views counter hit 50,000 recently. Whether people actually take an interest in Gundam or people only passed through, I appreciate the (potential) interest!
As explained, this mobile suit is capable of extending it's effective attacking distance by deploying detachable remote control wings, each possessing a beam weapon and it's own method of propulsion. The strange - butterfly shaped phenomenon present where the wings would sit is apparently a propulsion effect but has no offensive or defensive properties. This is verses the Destiny Gundam which uses a similar propulsion effect, but spreads Mirage Colloid (a fantasy particle which is essential in bending light/photon/electromagnetic attacks). The Strike Freedom apparently does not spread these particles and so this effect is just for show, while the Destiny can use the light bending effect, dubbed "Wings of Light" to confuse it's enemy. Many fans of Gundam in general will probably be able to draw lines between this technology and past Gundam shows (which take place in alternate universes).
The same Strike Freedom as before, except now the changes that I made to the wings are fairly visible. The image was made in 4 passes, 1 for Strike Freedom, 1 for the Dragoons, 1 for the Goufs/Zakus and 1 for the Earth/Space. After the 4 initial render passes in Lightwave, I proceeded to add milk and stir like hell in Photoshop. Instead of using the Lightwave native hypervoxels or any other sort of volumetric tricks in 3D I decided to just get some of the effects done in Photoshop -- that's what it's for I suppose.
